The story goes that Howard Hughes bought 20,000 acres in Tucson to build Hughes Missile Systems. Then he built a ranch home on the property and named it Rita Ranch after Rita Hayworth. Another story about the name’s origin is that it was named by Roy P. Drachman, a local Tucson realtor, who named it after a family friend.

Whether named for Hollywood royalty or not, Rita Ranch is a wonderful community and home to many military families and tech industry workers. The Vail School District serves Rita Ranch making it a wonderful place to grow a family.
